Investigator Goldilocks The infamous Goldilocks went out into the forest earlier this week to research the lives of animals in the forest. This week she researched three different ways bears lived. The first thing she researched was the purpose, which was to determine the effect if the temperature of the bear’s porridge on the amount of porridge that the bears ate. This purpose ,or why she was doing this, helped her realize the importanc eof her dangerous experiment. She figured out a few things based on observations (this things that you can tell by using your five senses) such as the fact that there were three bowls on the table when she walked in the bear’s house. She also observed that the first bowl of porridge felt hot, the second felt cold, and the third felt warm. Specifically that the first bowl was 100°F, the second was 0°F, and the third was 65°F, these were her levels of IV, or what will things be changed from things in the experiment. After she made these found these true facts she made different inferences (the things that she thinks about these things) about them. Such as these bears most likely will eat the porridge when they come home and this must be the bears' breakfast. She then decides that the independent variable (the thing you change on purpose) in this situation would be the temperature of porridge, and that the dependent variable (the thing that might be affected by this change) in this investigation would be the how much the bears eat according to the temperature of the porridge. She also decided that some things that would have to stay constant (the same), in order to be accurate, would be the same sized bowl in which the porridge is in and if they had eaten the same amount of food, or none, before this experiment. She realized that her units of measurement (what you measure things in) would be in spoonfuls of porridge. Goldilocks knew that finding out how bears lived would be difficult and possibly dangerous but was very surprised when she found that she was unharmed and full of knowledge by the time she was finished with the experiments. Thanks to our oh-so brave Investigator Goldilocks we now have very much knowledge of the way bears live.
